SAGA

Our Story

Once I returned SAGA was created, taking on the task of fusing Japanese food and culture with Western life. The key task was to complete everything with the world’s best kashrus, ‘Eidah Hachareidis.’ Under their hashgocha, I set out on a journey to develop my own techniques and ingredients in order to produce high-quality, delectable food.

Food has always been my first love. Everything I’ve ever done has culminated in me cooking or preparing food, in some form or another. I studied and learned about various cuisines and approaches for years. The Asian kitchen was one of the kitchens that always piqued my interest. I wanted to learn more about traditional Japanese dishes and flavors, so I decided to travel to Japan. After visiting from the west coast in Fukouko through Shizouka and eventually Tokyo, I fell in love with Japanese cuisine and tradition.

We spent hours, days, and months developing all of the ingredients, including our own soy sauce, nori sheets, teriyaki sauce, wasabi paste, and much more. The process is difficult, but it’s also a lot of fun and satisfaction. Our customers’ smiles and responses make all the hours of hard labor worthwhile.

With the introduction of our fast food business ‘Sushi N Bagels’ last year, the journey has just just begun. This year, we welcomed ‘Saga Poke Bar’ to the family, while our Saga burger and Saga restaurant are still in the planning and design stages. Our mission is to transform the Japanese food experience with the highest standard of kashrut.

Saga’s entire staff is proud and excited to be a part of this journey, and I am humbled and privileged to be able to offer our customers this opportunity. We’ve only just began, and there’s still lots of room for us to grow and flourish.  We hope to have the opportunity to serve you at one of our establishments in the near future.
